When the Melrose Pepper turns red, my Dad strings them, puts a brown paper bag over them and hangs them to dry. Once dry, he pops off the end and fries them on a very low heat in Olive Oil. When done and cool, sprinkle a little bit of salt on them and bite into them hearing a big crunch! Just thinking about them puts smile on my face. My Dad is Italian and this is his all time favorite pepper and ours too. During the summer when they are green, fried peppers on a piece of good Italian Bread and some pepperoni! My kids love to go to my parent's house on a weekend for lunch time with Grandpa!

Uh oh, I'm sorry I misquoted you! I think it was that same conversation with my husband that I was referring to, so there must have been a misunderstanding. I'll correct it; thanks for letting me know.

Amy,

Thanks for another great post. Pet waste is difficult for even the most dedicated composters. The Doggie Dooley is a great invention but isn't really suited for our climate. It just doesn't get warm enough for a long enough period of time here. That's why it isn't as successful for us Midwesterners!

We actually love the BioBag line and proudly sell them at Green Home Experts. They are not petro-based and are a great alternative to plastic bags. We also love PoopBags.com and our friends at Sirius Cooks! Did I ever tell you I met your wonderful husband while shopping there? If memory serves me correctly, you were in the middle of preserving blueberries that day. :)

Keep up the great blog. I love it!

Ah, I miss working from home. Yeah, I'd be curious to know if your utility bills change with this setup, if you lived in the same place last year.

I work from home for part of the week, and it doesn't make sense to wake up, leave my comfy bedroom and walk into a cold office to start working. So instead I'm going to super-insulate my bedroom and stay there during the day. The room itself already holds heat pretty well. The kitchen where I usually work is damn drafty, so I'll be happy to avoid that room.

I'll let you know how it works out!
